Deacon David Sebits was ordained to the Diaconate on March 20th, 2013, by Bishop BASIL at St. George Cathedral.
Originally from Hesston, Kan., Dcn. David received a B.S. in Political Science from Kansas State University in 1996. He received a Master’s degree in Public Policy from American University in Washington, D.C., in 1998. During his time in Washington, D.C., Dcn. David worked for Senator Robert Dole (KS) and for Koch Industries in its Public and Government Affairs Department. In 1998, Dcn. David married Shamassy Jennifer (Pruitt) Sebits in Alexandria, Va.
Dcn. David was transferred to Wichita by Koch Industries, where he continued his career in Public and Government Affairs. In 2009, Dcn. David began working for his family’s oil and gas exploration and production company in Wichita. After the death of his grandfather and company co-founder, Dcn. David was named Chairman and CEO of Pickrell Drilling Co.
Baptized and raised in the Lutheran Church, Dcn. David and his family were received into Holy Orthodoxy in September 2007. Dcn. David completed the three-year St. Stephen’s Certificate Program in 2013.
Dcn. David has served as a board member of the St. George Cathedral Endowment, Kansas Chamber, Wichita Grand Opera and Wichita Salvation Army.
Dcn. David and Shamassy Jennifer (Genevieve) have been blessed with three children – Isabella (Elizabeth), Preston (David) and Zachariah.
